Could it be the next new thing for Texas photographers? http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/8/under-water-photography-could-it-be-the-next-new-thing-for-texas-photographers     Just for fun I took my underwater camera that I purchased a few years back to the pool this summer. I am not there yet doing it professionally but did have a great time. Despite my own feelings about actually getting in the water I went in and snapped some fun pictures of my son and the boys he had been playing with.

At first they were not too sure but eventually got into it! My son was the hardest because he hates going under water. Maybe not hate but fearful so at the end he decided he would try. With his eyes and nose covered and hands over his ears he took a deep breath and went under.  Whoooh! I am glad I got the shot!  I didn't think anything of it until I got home and posted it online for family to see but  then I realized just how beautiful it was!

Not just his flowing hair and the pretty blue water around him but it was a special moment of bravery for him and that image showed just how he is and all his quirkiness!  Yep, now it's going on the wall as a gorgeous Metal print and he is so proud when he looks at the image.  So what do you think?  Was this just a rare moment or the next new thing in portrait photography?  Gosh, wouldn't it be awesome to have your next family session under water in this Texas heat?

Fort Worth Photographer gives tips in preparing for your little one's newborn session! http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/7/tips-in-preparing-for-your-little-ones-newborn-session 1. Don't stress over your home! I photograph newborns in the comfort of your own home for a reason. For you to relax and have everything you need right there. You've just had a baby and I don't expect a clean, organized household but rather the opposite. A lot of parents move around the time they are building their family, so the nursery may not be completed. Not a big deal! Don't sweat the small stuff!

2. Crank up the Heat! I know having a baby does all kinds of things to our bodies, including our temperature. While we love that AC blowing on us, your baby not so much! To get those bare newborn shots they need to stay snuggly and warm. Space heaters also work well...

3. Full baby is a happy baby! We will allow lots of time for extra feedings, but feeding right before session time will help.

4. Loosen their clothing and diaper. About 30 minutes prior to start time slightly loosen the diaper and remove hats, gloves or socks. Wraps or gowns are great to help your baby keep warm until arrival!

5. Props! I like to keep things natural but I will bring clean, soft wraps, blankets and baskets. If you have any accessories like hats, bows or blankets you want to use for a personal touch please let me know, as I would love to incorporate them! All the images in my gallery are done in a client's home and your session might offer a different backdrop and variety than someone else's. That's what makes each session unique and personal to your story!

6. Love light! I photograph newborns in natural light because it beautifully curves their little bodies and to protect their little, sensitive eyes from the bright, harsh camera flash. This tip is not just for your session but for all guests that come see your new little one. Please turn off phone flashes and camera flashes when photographing your baby for their own safety! After I arrive I will look around the house for the best lighting spots. It may be a spare bedroom, hallway or by the backdoor. Open up the blinds and let the natural light shine through!

7. Poop happens...and yes it will! Everything I bring is washable and cleaned with dye and perfume free detergent to keep a safe, clean environment for your baby! Don't be embarrassed or concerned when these accidents happen. Its good to have extra diapers, wipes, burp cloths and blankets close by to help with the messes.

8. What should parents wear? Wear something comfortable. Soft cotton clothing, blacks or whites, or add a splash of color if that's what you like. Be you!  We are at your home so you will have the opportunity to change if you desire.

9. Patience! Newborns are the one session you cannot rush. This is another reason why it's so helpful to shoot in your own home. Allow up to 3 or 4 hours for me to move in and invade your home...lol!  But seriously, I have a lot of time and patience and I come knowing it will require this to capture the beautiful moments. Things don't always go as planned. Even when they don't it's a fun and enjoyable experience if you just relax and let it happen.

10. When to book! It's good to let me know your due date ahead of time, but I always stay flexible for those arriving newborns. All newborns differ but the following guidelines are typical with the certain age. Within the first week is a great time for sleepy, curled up, bare poses. The second week you will get more open eyes and lots of wraps to calm your baby. After two weeks is great time for lifestyle sessions, such as bathing and interacting with your newborn and more stretching awake moments.

I hope these tips help and always let me know if you have any further questions before your newborn's session!

Daughter's Wedding http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/4/daughters-wedding

This little backyard wedding was a thrown together "I want to get married wedding" for my step daughter, Chelsea.  Young couple but they are still together so I am happy at that!  I've been meaning to post these pics a few years ago but better late than never, Right?  We found a small spot under a large tree to the side of our house for the ceremony spot.  Cleaned it up, put in some new white stone and surrounded it with large Bougainvillea plants and a few blooming Crape Myrtle Trees which I planted in front of the house afterwards.  My great friend and wonderful hair stylist BJ at "UNDER THE TULUP" did her beautiful hair.  Chelsea picked her dress and veil out at Ava's Bridal Couture and wore a pair of old cowboy boots and a handmade ribbon along the waist.  Her yummy cakes were made by Samantha at Truly Scrumptious but I think she is laying low from the cake business right now.  We used all my photography prop chairs for seating and decorations and draped some backgrounds around the garage to fancy it up a bit.  Even had a disco light for when it got dark.  We made all the center pieces and bouquet from batches of flowers self picked at Sam's Club also using mason jars and burlap.  It was a small quiet wedding but I thought it was very beautiful along with the bride!  Walter, her little brother still shows everyone where his sister got married!  I think he had the most fun of all!

TCU Robert Carr Chapel and Modern Art Museum Photo Shoot http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/8/tcu-robert-carr-chapel-and-modern-art-museum-photo-shoot

Had a wonderful family shoot this weekend with two incredible kids both whom have such gorgeous blue eyes!  I have watched them grow up from the first studio tutu picture of this precious little girl and now this handsome man is no longer moms little boy but her little man.  I am so privileged to be able to photograph this once Fort Worth based family.  For now they drive all the way from Midland Texas to allow me to take their family portraits!  It's with great pleasure every year I get to see them grow and capture those stunning blue eyes.  This year for their anniversary we went to the Robert Carr Chapel area where they had been married and then headed down to the Modern Art Museum for a few extra shots.   Will have to ask where she had gotten those adorable outfits and especially the colorful dress!  Love it!  Once again it was great seeing you this summer!

Why we capture memories! http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/7/why-we-capture-memories  A long time ago during a client viewing I had a dad say to me, " I have the real thing, why do I need a picture!"  I know most people don't hire a photographer without a purpose but I always wonder if it means so little to him to capture such a great memory.  I myself have always cherished memories even if its a snap shot or two.  That's were photography started so long ago.  He is right, you will have them to hold and look at in the moment but time goes by and sometimes those memories fade or get forgotten.  Little details and generations lost...Memories bring tears of joy, can give hope, bring smiles and laughter.  They can inspire...they can bring people together.  A memory can be a photograph of someone you love, someone you don't want to forget, someone that makes you smile and to feel they are still in your heart!  Here is just a sample of why I cherish photography!  Want you to meet my sweet grandmother and her life as I remember!

Sometimes it's just FATE! http://fortworthphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2012/12/sometimes-its-just-fate A few weeks ago I had a session cancel for an evening shoot that had been booked for last weekend.  Of coarse I am always disappointed when this happpens but never the less sometimes it just does....But that very next day my second session for that same day in the morning had called explaining that they were in no longer need for a family photographer but they were having a wedding that evening instead.  How delighted I was able to photograph their small yet very sweet ceremony!  Sometimes it's just fate!  Congratulations to Andrea and Clayton both!  Clayton was to be deployed soon so they moved up the date and luckily she already had the dress!  What a perfect wedding and a perfectly sweet couple!  You can see in the portraits how in love they are and how much love their family has for them!  Thank you for letting me photograph your very special day!
